I started to read a bunch of the posts and decided to bag it and just reply to the OP. These are my opinions, and please take them as such.
In the instance of the HAC vs. the Hyp: I believe it was the intention of the Dev's that BS's are no longer able to solo pwn mobile cruisers and below (meaning, that while it is possible, when facing a competent HAC pilot it would be very difficult).
In the instance of the Myrm vs. the Hyp: Based on your description of the fight, I believe that if you had simply flown the hyp in a straight line, you would have destroyed the myrm. My reasoning is based on the fact that you said the myrm had only slightly better speed, and thus would not have been able to maintain transversal, and still stayed in blaster range. Yes this would be counter intuitive of the hyp wanting to kill the myrm, but once engaged, that is what you would have to do, as soon as the myrm figures out he is in trouble, he trys to run, and which case you get another straight line as he trys to run, and you melt him to bits well before he creeps out of range.
The real problems with these examples has to do with fittings though. You did your tests vs blast ships, or blaster setup ships. Very very few ships you encounter will have dual webbers, most BC's will have no webbers, or 1 webber, in which case you won't have the transversal problem. In the case of cruisers and below, I have always felt it silly that BS's could do everything, eliminating the need for other ship types in a gang -- I also believe it is the intention of the Dev's that BS's no longer are able to be solo pwn mobiles, but will be incurring significant risk running around solo now. Further on the fittings, I don't believe that you will be coming across solo bc's or HAC's that are AB fitted with scrams ... just too much distance to cover to catch them before they simply warp off. For that matter, I don't believe that you will see solo Hyps with AB's and only scrams fitted,... again the same problem of too much distance to cover before they warp off.
I think the moral of the story is that:
A) Yes, 1 v 1 - BS's is viable. B) Yes, 1 v 1 - BS vs BC is viable in most instance (some more difficult than others). C) No, 1 v 1 or more - BS vs HAC or conbination of smaller and larger ships is not viable to consistantly win (why should it be?). ________________________
